Bubble Bath

http://terpstraphoto.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Lander_BB_8134.jpg
This is a really fun and different product shot. It definitely has that fun and colorful feeling that really would appeal to children.  The bubbles really come forward in the foreground and background, and the I like the look of the faded away bubbles in the background. The lighting on the products is light and you can read all the small text on each individual product. Overall the lighting is nice, and the composition is set up well.

DKNY watch

http://www.shaunalexander.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/top-Product-photography-Jewelry-watches-accessories.jpg
This is a really really cool photo. I love the way all the elements are weaving together and overlapping over each other and the way the composition is tilted gives a lot of energy and movement and interest to the photo. The lighting is nice because it really reflects on all the shiny gold and the silver of the watch really still manages to pop against all the busy elements of the background. The rose in the background is also a really nice touch because it gives that different texture to the background and really helps pop the watch forward in the composition.

Phillips

http://www.chrislitwin.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/Norelco.jpg
This is another great example of nice looking product photography, I love the lighting in each and the way it creates this really nice expensive, sleek look. The lighting on the blades looks really nice especially with the way the light color pops against all the black of the background and the product itself. I really love the highlights on both sides on the left because it really shows that brand new, sleek and shiny look.

Watch

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7161/6671507441_42d64dc773_b.jpg
This is a really great product shot. There is really a statement being made here that says the watch is marketed towards someone sporty, or athletic. The way the water looks as if its dripping off the watch makes it look like its just been through water, and its very rugged looking in a good way. The set up of the composition is nice because the watch if facing the empty space and it really helps give a slight diagonal feeling to the composition.

Sprite

http://cdn.picturecorrect.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/product.jpg
This is a really nice example of a product shot, I like the way the items were set up in the composition, it is very balanced. I love that the bubbles were captured in the glass, which really helps make it look cold, fresh, and carbonated. The bubbles are also captured a little bit in the sprite which keeps the items from looking flat and dull like they have been sitting there for a long time. The items are nicely set up and the elements all look good.

Red Nails

http://weddingphotography.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/portrait-photography-techniques-dramatic-high-contrast-lighting-01-12.jpg
I really love the lighting in this photo. I love that half of her face is hidden with the shadows and the levels overall look really nice. The red color of the lips and nails really pops on this dark composition. The way that she is looking down and over her shoulder also really helps to lead your eye around the composition, overall the setup and the lighting really create a mysterious effect with this photo.

Old man

http://www.ephotozine.com/articles/10-top-portrait-photography-tips-17935/images/street_photography_portrait.jpg
This is a really stunning photograph. The black and white really brings out a serious emotion which really compliments the look on the mans face in the photograph. It's almost easy to image there's a whole story behind the man and you can really see a lot of character in his face. The levels are really nicely done and the face really stands out against the background.

Revlon

https://comp13b.wikispaces.com/file/view/Epsaro%20example%20magazine%20ad.jpg/412391634/278x381/Epsaro%20example%20magazine%20ad.jpg
This is another nice looking magazine advertisement for revlon nail polish. The black background really helps to bring forward the bright colors of the red as well as the brightness in the models face. The brown in the eyes and the reds of the nails and lips are very bright and eyecatching, and the text layout looks really nice bringing back the reds of the photo and being placed well in the composition. Overall it's a simple and nice looking ad.

Alexandre accessories

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bV90uBbIacE/TJhouqJOALI/AAAAAAAAAI8/htrsOQMFrzE/s1600/vouge-ad-21.3w+x+27.6h+Ver1.jpg
This is another nice magazine ad for hair accessories. The black in the dress and the background make the product look very fashionable, high class, and expensive. The photo is edited really nicely and you can see that the eye was really brightened and it really draws your attention because it is the only item of color in the entire ad.  The arrangement of the composition works because the model is looking straight at the info which also helps to draw your attention to the brand name. Overall it was a nicely placed ad.

Starbucks Coffee

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2011/068/8/3/magazine_ad_by_nasirali-d3b8xcz.jpg
This is a nice looking photograph and ad for starbucks. The photograph is slightly off center and the blurred out background really helps to bring the text forward and help to draw attention to the cup on the right. The green at the bottom is perfect for tying the whole ad together and bringing color and attention to the brand and product.

Axe Twist

http://www.perfectphotoblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/water-advertising-product-photography.jpg
This is a really nice product shot, I love the green glow in the water and the way it relates to what the product is. The diagonal of the product gives a lot of action as well as the active splash happening in the photo. The lighting on the bottle is also really nice in that the black bottle doesnt blend in with the black background at all.

Marchesa

http://www.photigy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Perfume-webinar1572.jpg
This is another really glamourous product shot. The lighting and colors are really beautiful and it really translates to me as high class, diamonds, and very expensive sort of product based on not only the bottle, but the glittery background, the clear shot and the soft lighting on the product. The blue coming up from behind looks really nice and really separates the product from blending in with the similar colors of the background.

Heineken

http://www.jeremyshelby.com/media/original/beer7308-DUP2.jpg
This is another really awesomely lit product photo. The greens in the bottle manage to not blend in with the green background as well as the green liquid splashing against it. You can easily see all the shades and hues and the glittery reflections on the water really provide a nice contrast against the dark green and black background.

B'ham bold

http://www.benbenderphoto.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/JB-11.jpg
This is another really different approach at a product shot. I really like both the composition and the way that the product was lit. The red of the bottle really comes through against the black and the reflections of light on the rest of the bottle are a really nice contrast against the black background. The smoke and ice is also lit really well to show the light behind the object as well as fading out the ice around the edge of the photograph where it is not as important.

Manischewitz

http://www.manischewitz.com/assets/images/prod_FishGroup.jpg
This photo has a really different look than the other product shots that Ive posed. You can tell that this is something very basic that you might see in a walmart catalog. You can tell that the labels were probably brightened and cleaned up to look crisp and clean, and the lighting is very basic and the shot is straight on. But this is a product that you really can't sell by glamoring it up like the high heels. It's something that people buy if they want it, and this basic shot is perfect for just making it look like a basic grocery item.

Heels

http://www.colinbeckett.com/data/photos/156_1r28354_tita_shoe1061_lb.jpg
This photo really achieves a certain look and its definitely not  something you would see in a walmart catalog. The little bit of yellow in the reflection on the shoe really gives a firey look as well as the high contrast between the light hitting the shoe and the black background. The low angle that the photo was taken at really makes the shoes look large and important as well.

Nail Polish

http://www.portraworks.com/commercial_photography/product_photography_la_10.jpg
This photo has really nice lighting as well. All the elements are very reflective and even the surface looks reflective, but the nail polish remains lit kind of softly and you can see that the background was lit as well, which really gives a look like it wasn't set up, like an object on a table, like it just happened in a room. The shades all look great.

Pepsi

http://wired.jp/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Picture-219.png
I really like the way that this product was lit. The angle they took the photo makes this product look really nice because it looks very large and important.  The lighting is really soft for this can which is very reflective, even with the little water droplets the light makes it look very dimensional and contrasted.

Model Contrast

http://www.aishwaryaraiactress.com/gallery/modeling/large_image/aishwarya-rai-modeling-photos9.jpg
This is another black and white photo that has a nice contrast to it. The eyes really pop and come through as the brightest and most eye catching aspect of the photo. I love the background as well the fact that it fades from light to dark really helps to provide contrast between her black hair and the lighter shades in the background. The face could use more levels because her skintones are looking flat, but otherwise the contrast is nice.

black and white model

http://fe.topit.me/e/59/09/11252607064090959el.jpg
I really like the levels on this black and white portrait. I love the way that the bright blue eyes look against the darkness of her features and the rest of the photo. I love that the eyes are the brightest and most eye catching thing in the photo as well as having this mesmerizing look just by having so much contrast between the rest of the photo, especially the lightness in the background coming from behind. There are a lot of tones and shades in this photo which makes for a really interesting black and white portrait.

Barbara Palvin shot

http://rumalis.com/images/2434-model-barbara-palvin.jpg
This is, to me, another bad example of model editing. You can really tell she was edited just by looking at her. She has that perfect smooth skin but the problem is there are practically no shadows in her face and it really has no depth or texture. Her lips are an unnatural color, even for lipstick. The eyes are very very bright and really stand out. There are a lot of shadows behind the eyes but there could be more in the small areas around the eyes and beneath them. This photo just really needs some better levels and more shadows.

Drew Barrymore

http://beausic.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/drew-barrymore-cg-intense-shadow-blast-03.jpg
This is another covergirl photo for mascara, but this photo has a little bit of a smoother and nicer look to it. There is a really stark contrast between her hair and especially the colors but it appears that it was intentional considering the colored mascara is called "intense shadowblast" which really is actually captured by the intense shadows and contrast in the colors of this photo, which really works for the ad.

Covergirl Rhianna

http://apilgriminnarnia.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/covergirl.jpg
You can tell in this edited photo for covergirl, that the rhianna has been edited. Her skin looks very nice and smooth but it keeps the depth of her face without looking flat. The only thing I notice is around her eye is so bright and her right eye looks way too bright as well. This would look a lot more natural if the tones were smoothed down and the levels were adjusted overall. You can also tell that the eyelashes were shopped because of how perfect and separate they are as well.

Milla Jovovich

http://wallpaperciv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Beautiful-Milla-Jovovich-Fashion-Model.jpg This image is definitely edited using photoshop. You can tell specifically that around the lips and cheeks that her skin looks very flat and smooth, like it has very little depth. The eyes are very bright and the whites of her eyes and teeth are extremely white. The girls hair was very poorly cropped out of the photograph and placed on the background, you can see the hard edges around her ear especially.

Model Photo

http://www.modelsinfluence.com/wp-content/themes/model-influence/images/model_06.jpg
You can tell there were a lot of edits and adjustments to this photo because she almost looks too perfect. All of her features are very smooth and her features are bright and stand out. It's most likely that the individual levels of the features were adjusted as well as the skin was smoothed out and healed using a healing brush.

Bird in the window

http://media.idownloadblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Unique-angle-1024x1024.jpg
I really like the angle of this photo. It really gives you the impression that you are small and looking straight up to the top of the building. The photo has a decent contrast with the black and white and has really very little going on, which really helps to draw your eyes upwards at the sky, and especially straight at the bird. This composition uses a rule of thirds because the top of the building falls at an interesting angle in the photo. Overall a really nice and interesting photo.

Leaves

http://wallpoper.com/images/00/37/38/40/nature-photography_00373840.jpg
The complimentary colors in this photo are really nice. The bright shades of green and red really compliment each other. I also like the way that the front leafs softly lay overtop of the bottom ones and the rest is kind of faded into the background which gives a really soft look to this overall really vibrant composition.

Pink Flowers

http://s5.favim.com/orig/53/beautiful-flowers-nature-photography-Favim.com-489187.jpg
This is a really nice photograph. I like the contrast between the pink and the green of the background leaves. I love the way that it kind of fades into the background as its blurred. The really soft colors look nice in this photograph and really give a mood of  being shot on a bright sunny day.

Dandelions

http://photoity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Nature-Photographs-2.jpgWhat I love about this photo is the fact that its taken at an angle that you wouldn't normally see. you really get the feel of laying on the ground and looking up into the sky. I love the way the dandelions surround the entire edge of the photo and the contrast between them and the sky. This photo is really simple but does a really good job of really bringing the viewer into the shot and feeling like theyre looking up too.

Wet Branch

http://wallpoper.com/images/00/35/50/95/nature-photography_00355095.jpg
I really like the lighting in this photo. you can really see the glisten in every one of the water droplets on this branch. I also like that the background is blurred and it fades out to a darker color on the edge, which really helps lead your eye from one side of the branch to the other. The contrast between the foreground and background is nice because you still get the idea without the photo itself being too busy or cluttered. Overall a really nice photo.

Light in the Trees

http://designgrapher.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/nature-photographs.jpg
This is a really good example of levels in a photograph. The light coming through the trees is perfectly lit and the trees are just dark enough that they arent disappearing but they provide enough contrast against the light to make a really contrasted and interesting photo. Even though there is so much going on, it's still easy to see all the trees and branches and they come together really nicely.

Cityscape

http://www.wtcamsterdam.com/sites/default/files/downloads/WTC%20Panorama_big.jpg
The crop and perspective of this panorama looks perfect. You can tell that the photographer intentionally placed the center road in the center of the photo and curved the two sides of the road away from it, creating a sort of symmetrical balance. The curve of the panorama looks nice especially with the look of the front buildings and the way that they look almost like they are supposed to be curved.

Sunset

http://st.gdefon.com/wallpapers_original/wallpapers/545728_autumn_morning_forest_low_tatras_slovakia_panorama_13570x3892_(www.GdeFon.ru).jpg
The crop of this photo really works. The photo might have looked a lot more bland if not for the perspective curved look of the land as well as the contrast between the blue sky and the reddish land. The photo crop really works because the way the tallest trees are right at the middle right of the photo right where the photo curves, giving it a nice balance. The active sky also looks really nice because it really adds interest to the left side of the photo where there aren't any trees.

Mountains

 http://jackscrabble123.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/le-tour-panorama-11.jpg
Another panorama image.  This one is beautiful with just he colors alone. The way the pole at the side of the photo really balances the hill on the other side. The colors in this photo really help to create a look of depth as well. The crop of the panorama is perfect because the negative space in the sky really balances the positive space of the land and just has a really nice balance overall.

Landscape panorama

http://blamethemonkey.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/1010_IT_Sunset_View_02a.jpg
I love the curves of this image. The way the land curves is really complimented by the perspective of this panorama. The way the lines of crops are facing  you and then curving right around really gives both depth and texture to the photo. The curves of the sky in the background as well look really nice next to the curves of the rest of the photo.

Beach Panorama

http://www.danandcarolyn.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/PalladiumMorning.jpg
This is another cool panorama. The way the perspective works with the sides of the photo looking regular and the ocean really wrapping around the front of the panorama, it gives a really cool effect. The way the photo is cropped really works with making the photo symmetrical especially with the sun right in the middle.

River Panorama

http://www.dailyventure.com/media/highres/Lake-Siskiyou-Panorama.jpg
This is a pretty cool example of a panorama. You can tell the photos were stitched together because of the way the foreground is very curved and the background is straight. I like the effect with the perspective though, it gives the photo a lot of depth and interest with the way the angles work.

Powerlines

This photo has a lot of interesting things going on. The black and white combined with the smoke and environment really makes this a serious looking image. The plot of land in the foreground really helps to lead the eye to the middle and up through the tower. The horizontal lines of the power lines really help to offset the vertical of the towers, which creates a really balanced looking image altogether.

Abstract Building

This is a really interesting photo taken by photographer Jack Fusco. The composition is just so interesting and I think the way that it was cropped makes it perfect. The way that the close up of all the lines of the building create an abstract look to the photograph, but also the lines also hep to lead the eye through the photograph and to look at all the elements. I love that the path leads straight to the middle of the photo but its not technically the first thing you see when you see this photo. Very abstract and very awesome.

Active Sky

This could have been a very boring photograph. The active sky really creates a burst of clouds that almost lead from the center of the photograph to the edges of the image. The dark line in the photo where the land meets the sky actually helps to break up the two elements and make it seem a little more interesting as well. The dramatic lighting in the overall photograph also help to make this super simple image into a more dramatic and interesting composition.

Bright Shoe

This is another example of using the rule of thirds in photography. The photographer placed the subject of the photo right on the left line. The pole going through the side helps to also lead the eye up to the shoe and back out of the photograph. The unblurred rocks in the front also help to create a subtle horizontal line that also draws attention to the right side of the photo and creates a little bit more balance. The colors of the shoe and socks also subtly match the other colors in the photo, which makes it all almost look like it belongs together.

Rainbow

This photo really shows another example of rule of thirds and also uses the bridge in the photo to lead the eye straight into the photo to the subject which is the end of the rainbow on the horizon. The horizon line looks like it lines up with the rule of thirds, as well as the exact point that the rainbow meets the bridge visually at a point that is very interesting in the image.

Smoking Man

This photo also taken by Michael Schmidt, is an example of a portrait that is centered and tight but it still works. The man in the photo is really boxed in and even cropped at the top of his head, but there is so much texture and attitude about the photo that really makes you feel like you're up close and personal, the photographer makes the close proximity an intentional thing.

Woman in the Water

This photo was shot by Michael Schmidt. The subject in the photo follows the rule of thirds in that her head is centered with the top left point and the photo is almost divided in half with the one half of the photo being the water splashing on the surface. The woman also is looking center right at the camera which also helps to draw attention to her.

Speed

This photo has a lot of motion and speed. The extreme blur of the background really shows an idea that the plane is going extremely fast, the sharp detail of the plane against the background really give it a clarity as well as being the focus of the photo. The darkness of the plane in the foreground also has a nice contrast against the light colors of the blurred background.

Palm Trees

This photo, taken by Juan A. Pons is a really dynamic photo. The diagonal of the tree really gives the photo a lot of movement and brings the eye through the image. The contrast and bright color of the sky against the dark foreground really have a lot of contrast. The bright orange color compliments the bright blue background of the sky as well.

Green Wall

This photo is interesting because of the complimentary colors used. the greens of the mossy wall really contrast the red shirt of the girl as well as the bottom section of the photo which really has a lot of reddish color. The photo could use a bit more of a dynamic touch by enhancing the highlights and shadows a bit to create more contrast to this otherwise flat picture. The colors are the only thing drawing the eye into that small red dot of the girls shirt.

Baseball

This is a really interesting and abstract photo of a baseball taken by Renee Kaplan. It takes a really unique approach to photographing a baseball to give a unique feel. The rips and tears really show use and maybe even love of the sport, which can give a unique reaction depending on the viewer of the photo. The soft warm colors in the background give it a warm look as well as the overall almost sepia look of the photo.

Star Trails

This photo is really awesome because the caption stated that Jack Fusco, the photography took 357 separate photos and stacked them together to create the unique star trails in this one section of the sky. He must have used a tripod and kept the camera in an exact spot to take each and every photo at a separate time, which created this awesome picture.

Cloaked Woman

This photo is really nice because of the contrast. The background of the photo is a medium gray which really makes the darkest darks of the shadows on her cloak and the lightest points around her face really pop out. I also like that the face is the lightest part of the image and it is the first thing you see especially since the subject is almost making eye contact with the viewer.  The photo was taken by Michael Schmidt.
